ICT support
The Nottinghamshire Infrastructure Consortium ICT Sub Group is chaired by Andrew Tristram, General Manager of PurpleZebra, a voluntary sector owned shared ICT support Service. For further information plaese contact: Andrew Tristram Tel: 01623 819160 A number of initiatives are already underway on ICT which would contribute directly to this section of the IIP. Some research on usage and take up of ICT, and research on training needs, plus market research on ICT technical support has been undertaken but is patchy. This has been sufficient to develop the work thus far but now needs more detailed market research and modelling. For the last 2 years a group of voluntary sector agencies have been already been working together to identify and respond to the sectors ICT support needs. The project is currently known under the working title of “CON > < NECT” . It operates as a county-wide informal consortium of agencies that wish to develop a high-quality, affordable ICT support service in Nottinghamshire which will provide a co-ordinated ICT support solution for all groups, regardless of size, within the voluntary sector in the county. The partners compriseof The Nottinghamshire Rural Community Council, EnProve (Groundwork), First Data Training, Nottingham Council for Voluntary Services, ELUSE with “arms-length” backing from Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council. The major focus for the project is to set-up a “hub and spoke” delivery model involving a single port of contact telephone call centre to provide on behalf of all partners immediate technical assistance from trained operators to the countywide voluntary and sector. The centre would co-ordinate referrals to the partners according to their specialisms and their ability in providing a variety of services such as emergency call-out, regular on site technical support through circuit riders, ICT training, web design services and consultancy. Partner organisations will be able to offer users training with the aim of making them more self sufficient and able to resolve simple IT problems themselves. Overall the aim is to promote the integrated and effective use of ICT by the voluntary sector in Nottinghamshire. Ultimately the aim will be deliver the service on a social enterprise model which can provide a sliding scale model of charging for less well off groups. There is potential for this project to form the hub of a co-ordinated circuit rider model for the Key Actions
Delivery Mechanism The Working Group will need access to funds to pay for market research, consultation events, secretarial support, and input to develop the delivery models and structures. |
